What are ‘Gas-Safe’ and the ‘Gas Safe Register’?

In a nutshell, all ‘gas businesses’ and engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register. This is the first thing to check if you want to engage a business to assist you with any gas pipework projects.

There are several layers to the gas safe register. Some of the areas of the register that we are qualified to support you in are; Gas Installation Pipework on both Natural Gas and LPG and also Pipework Testing and purging on Natural Gas. The list is lengthy. There will be some projects that a specific gas business can undertake and projects they can’t. It is worthwhile checking the ‘qualified to work on’ section. It is also important to establish whether it is Domestic or Commercial you wish to search for. An engineer may be qualified to carry out certain domestic work only. They may not be qualified to undertake commercial work.
